Dual Turning Milling

Dual turning-milling is an advanced machining process that combines the capabilities of both turning and milling within a single machine setup, often on a multi-tasking CNC machine. In this process, the workpiece is rotated (as in turning) while simultaneously being machined by milling tools that can move in multiple axes. This dual approach allows for the creation of complex geometries, such as parts with both cylindrical and prismatic features, in one seamless operation.

The integration of turning and milling in a single machine reduces the need for multiple setups, improving efficiency and accuracy while minimising handling errors. Dual turning-milling is especially valuable in industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical devices, where intricate and high-precision components are required. This method enables the production of parts with complex contours, holes, and even non-rotational features, all in a streamlined and automated process.

CMZ TA25YS640 and RoboJob Auto Load

Facilitates polygon turning, a process that acquires flat planes on the workpiece by synchronising the spindle and live tool rotation, offering an alternative to individually milling each surface and presenting a method more akin to lathing.
